The residential building of the 19th century is listed for preservation, so the challenge was to transform small units into a home which offers contemporary living space to a family of four. Therefore, the two smaller units in the ground and first floor were merged and connected through an internal staircase to become a maisonette apartment. Components of the building structure worth protecting were preserved and integrated in the interior design to maintain the character of the building.
