dgj205 Active-Plus Residential Houses at Schafberg
For this residential area a single-family house as well as a series and a double type were designed. The spatial structures are based on a square grid, which allows fluid spaces, but also a flexible use and space adjustment, thus allowing great variability of the ground plan. The basic idea of the grid is based on the spatial divisions of villas in Jugendstil, but has been implemented with respect to the modern era.
The initial urban design for the neighbourhood included a car-sharing concept, water-recycling facilities and a shared community garden that was an extension of a private exterior zone of each house.
