A new building typology was developed for the sports and leisure center: Jardin d’hiver is a green climate envelope that does not provide a sharp separation between indoor and outdoor space, but can dynamically adapt to the weather, the seasons and the use. At the same time, the climate envelope reduces the structural effort for the building and significantly reduces the heating requirement.
Between the thermally controlled indoor area for sleeping, dining room, work rooms and seminars and the outdoor area, a zone is created that can be used in a variety of ways: In bad weather and mild temperatures, the climate envelope serves as a winter garden Jardin d’hiver with a high quality of stay is shared by all visitors. A spacious covered area is planned on the ground floor, which can be used for sports (yoga, gymnastics), as a warehouse and as a workshop for boat repairs. On the upper floors, the climate envelope also serves as an access. The heated volume within the climatic envelope is very compact and therefore achieves a low energy consumption even with low insulation thicknesses.
