Impulses from the 20th BDA Day 2025
On May 24, 2025, the 20th BDA Day took place in Darmstadt under the motto “Substance for Transformation” – a significant event highlighting the urgent need for change in architecture and building culture. DGJ Frankfurt was represented on site by Hans Drexler, who presented the innovative project “dgj228 Living Sufficiency Together” along with other residential developments that vividly demonstrate how the principle of sufficiency contributes to creating sustainable and high-quality living spaces in urban agglomerations.
Olaf Bahner from the BDA’s Department of Building Culture and Professional Policy particularly emphasized the social and spatial qualities of the projects in his speech. He stressed that community and sharing as central elements of the housing concepts help to not only accept resource reduction but experience it as an enrichment of one’s living environment. In doing so, these projects make a substantial contribution to the transformation of our built environment – a transformation that is more urgent than ever given today’s ecological challenges.
The intensive and constructive exchange during the BDA Day demonstrated how important ongoing dialogue about new approaches in building and living culture is. DGJ Architektur thanks the Federal Association of German Architects (BDA) as well as the regional associations of Berlin and Hesse for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to discuss these important topics together. We are convinced that architecture and urban planning play a key role in creating future-proof, sustainable living spaces and will continue to advocate strongly for these goals.
Together with our partners and the professional community, we want to drive the change forward and shape the built environment to meet the needs of present and future generations.
