URBAN TIMBER BUILDINGS
Wood is the only local and regrowing building material that is available in a big amount and can be produced in a local and sustainable way. For the production and processing of wooden buildings we need much less primary energy in comparison to building with concrete. The production of wood is carbon dioxide neutral and moreover it even counteracts the greenhouse effect due to the characteristics of wood to store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Although there is a big market for multi-storey buildings due to a very restrictive legal situation during the last years wooden constructions are rare. DGJ Architektur develops new concepts and constructions in urban wood construction for multi-storey buildings. Through the combination of wood construction, urban recompression and energy-efficient building arises a sustainable concept which offers future-compliance in terms of necessities (climate change, lack of resources) and demands.
